Brimfield Blooming Star
Brimfield Blooming Star was inspired by a partial cutter quilt that we scooped up at the Brimfield Antiques show in MA. After taking it home and dissecting it, we realized that it was actually a “Star Dahlia” or “Kansas Sunflower”. In these old quilts, the petal pieces are gathered and add texture to the finished quilt. The petals certainly inspired us to make them stand out in a different way when we redesigned the quilt. Take a look at our petals – notice how they are actually open to the negative space of the quilt? We love this detail.
Brimfield Blooming Star is actually a beginner-friendly EPP pattern. That is because, like in our other patterns, our papers are perforated. This means you can take the paper shapes and tear them along the perforation marks and divide the shapes even further! Should you decide *not* to use the perforation, then the Blooming Star pieces are actually easy to stitch together as there are no curves involved. The curved piecing only occurs if you divide the ice cream cone shape down into two pieces. So now you know! And you can make one of these quilts quite easily if you are new to English Paper Piecing. Happy stitching!
