This is the Brimfield Blooming Star Bulk Paper Pack. The paper pieces in this bulk pack will make 12 Brimfield Blooming Star blocks. We sell single paper piece packs, the pattern, and templates separately here and here and here.
The Brimfield Blooming Star is an English Paper Piecing (EPP) pattern. To do EPP, you wrap fabric around temporary paper templates and baste them. (We prefer glue basting.) Then, you stitch those wrapped paper pieces together by hand to make the Blooming Star quilt block. The papers are removed before appliquéing the blocks down.
The Brimfield Blooming Star design was inspired by a “cutter quilt”, found at the Brimfield Antiques fair. As a result, the cutter quilt came back to our studio and we cut it up. Days later, we created the Blooming Star. This EPP design features “cut out” portions within the center of the block, bringing an element of negative space in an unexpected way. Like all of our patterns, this project combines EPP and appliqué and creates a beautiful negative space between blocks.
We have a wonderful group of sewists that belong to our Private Facebook Group called The Brimfield Bee. It is a safe place for you to upload your Brimfield Awakening Projects, get feedback and find inspiration! You can ask to join the group here 🙂
