Description
THIS IS IMPORTANT
PayPal might “review your purchase” and delay sending you the PDFs for multiple hours. It took us over 12 hours for it to get the “all clear” and unfortunately we have no control over this. After your Boston Fens pdf purchase, you will (eventually) receive an email from us with this in the subject “Your Brimfield Awakening order is now complete” . It contains links to download your files. DO NOT click the download links that show up on the screen immediately after you make the purchase on our website. GO TO YOUR EMAIL INSTEAD and click on the email that will be sent to you about your purchase. Click on the links in that email from your laptop or desktop.
Do Not Print From Your Phone
Do not download or print from your phone. Because of security settings on your phone, downloading and printing from your phone often leads to problems. The downloads often go somewhere hard for you to find or the templates don’t print or they print at an incorrect scale. There is a limit of 4 downloads with your purchase and you might blow through all 4 if you try from your phone. Please trust us when we tell you, you’re likely to encounter less problems if you download and print from your laptop or desktop.
Make sure the email you used to register for our website is the same one you use to process your order. We often have clients reach out to us to tell us their downloads were never emailed to them only to discover they used a different email address on our website from their PayPal email. So please check all possible email addresses you use (including “dummy email addresses” you use might use to catch spam:-)
Boston Fens FPP
In March 2021 this was a free template for the Brimfield Awakening Newsletter subscriber list. It is now available for purchase in case you missed it. Boston Fens FPP is a Foundation Paper Pieced Pattern that comes in a PDF format. It does not teach you how to do FPP. It teaches you our tips and tricks for cutting out the FPP templates and how to stitch the parts together to ensure your blocks finish at 12″. Included in this download are 5 pages of instruction / fabric requirements, 3 pages of templates (which you can print out for your personal use as many times as you want), and 3 different coloring sheet options.
Before You Start
Please read the Boston Fens instructions. We have you add your seam allowance differently than other FPP patterns to ensure final block accuracy. We go over the difference between “outer” triangles + “inner” triangles and where it is important to add 1/2″ SA vs 1/4″ SA. Reading things through first will help you to know “where the rocks” are before you dive in. We have cutting instructions for one block (which you can scale up) if you’re going for a totally scrappy look as we did. And we have fabric requirements for the 9 block option if you want your quilt to be less scrappy.
How Boston Fens Quilt Came About
Technically called “Back Bay Fens”, the Boston Fens is a string of public parks and waterways in a section of Boston that runs roughly parallel to the Charles River. Established in 1879 by Frederick Law Olmsted, the Fens gets its name from the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood through which it runs. Once a saltwater marsh, the Fens became a fresh water lagoon. It is part of the Emerald Necklace of parks in Massachusetts between Boston and the nearby community of Brookline. Olmstead’s linear park of walking paths criss-crossing the gentle meandering stream linking numerous ponds connected us to the overall aesthetic of this block.
What’s Included with Boston Fens FPP
Boston Fens contains:
- 12 pages of pictures, instruction, templates + coloring sheets
