Retro Clean
Retro Clean is a laundry detergent specifically made for vintage textiles. Whenever Kim cleans a vintage quilt for her quilt coat business and has some challenging stains to remove, she gives the quilt a nice long soak in her bathtub using Retro Clean.
What is it?
“Retro Clean is the gentle solution for safely removing tough stains, including yellow and brown age stains from all washable vintage fabrics (laces, linens, quilts, tablecloths, clothing, wedding dresses, etc.) It removes stains related to water and smoke damage, mold, coffee, wine, blood, nicotine, babies, pets and perspiration. It will leave your fabric with renewed color and vitality.”
How to Use Retro Clean
“Check item for colorfastness. Wash and rinse item to be treated. Dissolve 3 – 4 tablespoons of Retro Clean granules in each gallon of warm water. Make enough solution to adequately immerse item. Soak for up to 48 hours depending on the degree of staining. Soak in the sunshine, if possible (it helps the water warm), to speed up the process. Check and stir periodically. Make sure the item remains immersed. Wash and rinse your item again after soaking.”
